The 30-second version: 50% deposit to book the build, staged payments on agreed milestones, you own the finished product the moment the final invoice is paid, and two rounds of revisions are included at each stage before extra billing kicks in.

1 · Quotes and acceptance

Quotes are itemised, valid for 14 days, and exclude VAT (we are not VAT registered). A quote becomes a binding agreement when you accept it in writing (email is fine) and the deposit in section 2 has cleared. Work starts on receipt of the deposit, not on acceptance.

2 · Deposits and payment stages

  • 50% deposit is due before work begins. This books your slot in the build queue and covers design and planning work.
  • 40% on milestone: for larger builds, an interim payment is due when the agreed milestone (typically approved design or staging-site completion) is reached. Smaller projects skip this stage.
  • 10% / final on completion: the balance is due on delivery — the site is ready for launch and handed to you on payment.
  • Payment terms are 7 days from invoice date unless the quote says otherwise. Late payments pause work and can delay launch dates; interest per the National Credit Act may apply to long-overdue amounts.
  • Hosting, domains and care plans bill annually or monthly in advance and are cancellable with 30 days' notice.

3 · Intellectual property — the part that matters

3.1 Your property: on receipt of the final payment, all intellectual property in the finished deliverables — design, custom code, content we wrote for you — transfers to you, for the territory and duration permitted by law. You can modify, host, sell or license your site freely thereafter.

3.2 Until then: all IP remains with Handy Services. Drafts, concepts and unpaid work may not be published, deployed or used commercially until paid in full — that's what the deposit and stages are buying.

3.3 What stays ours: pre-existing tools, frameworks, reusable components and internal libraries developed before or outside your project remain ours and are licensed to you to use within your delivered site. Third-party licences (fonts, plugins, stock assets) are governed by their own terms; we tell you which those are.

3.4 Portfolio right: unless you ask us in writing not to, we may show the finished work in our portfolio and case studies with a credit link.

4 · Revisions and scope

Each milestone includes two rounds of revisions — further rounds or new features after the milestone was approved are quoted separately before any work happens, so there are no surprise invoices. Work outside the agreed scope pauses the delivery calendar until scoped.

5 · What we need from you

Content, images, access credentials and approvals on time — the delivery calendar assumes them. Delays in client inputs shift the calendar day-for-day. You confirm you own or have licensed everything you give us to use.

6 · Warranties and fixes

We fix defects in our delivered code free of charge for 30 days after launch. This doesn't cover changes to hosting, third-party services, or edits made by others after handover. Beyond that, care plans or quoted maintenance carry things forward. To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that third-party services (hosting uptime, payment gateways) never fail — only that our work on them is sound.

7 · Cancellation

You may cancel in writing at any time: the deposit plus work completed to date (billed at the quote's rates) becomes payable, and nothing transfers until that invoice is settled. We may cancel if a project stalls more than 60 days or payment terms are breached, with the same accounting.

8 · Liability

Our total liability for any claim connected to a project is limited to the fees actually paid for that project in the preceding 12 months. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9 · Your visitors' data

Sites we build may process your visitors' personal information on your behalf — you are the responsible party for that processing. We hand over the tooling (consent banner, privacy-policy scaffold) to help you comply, and our own handling of your data is covered by the privacy policy.

10 · Law and disputes

These terms are governed by South African law. We'll always try to resolve disputes by conversation first; the Magistrate's Court has jurisdiction notwithstanding the amount involved. Electronic copies of these terms and any acceptance by email constitute originals under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

These terms are provided as a fair-dealing baseline. They are not legal advice; where the law and this page ever disagree, the law wins. Questions: privacy@handyservices.co.za.
