The short version: this site stores the bare minimum needed to run, shows you what that is, and never passes your data to third parties. Last updated 17 October 2026.
What we store
Two things, both under your control:
1 · Session cookie — essential, always on
A short-lived PHP session cookie (handy_services_site). It protects our contact forms against cross-site forgery and throttling abuse. It holds no personal details, is never used for advertising, and expires when you close your browser. Without it the forms cannot work securely.
2 · Your consent choice — stored on your device
Your cookie preference itself is kept in your browser's local storage (hs-consent-v1) so we don't have to ask on every visit. It contains your choice and the date you made it — nothing else. You can change or erase it any time via "Cookie settings" in the corner of any page.
What we don't do
No advertising or behavioural trackers. No analytics profiles (the optional analytics slot is reserved but currently unused, and stays off unless you switch it on). No data sold, rented or shared. No third-party fonts or scripts — everything this site loads is served from our own servers, so no other company sees your visits. Our pages embed no social-media widgets.
What happens to your brief
When you submit the project brief, we use your details for exactly one purpose: replying to your enquiry and, if we proceed, quoting your project. Enquiries are emailed to the responsible division and may be stored in our private back-office. We keep them only as long as the conversation needs. We never add you to marketing lists without asking.
Your POPIA rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act you may ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, and object to processing. Email privacy@handyservices.co.za and we'll respond within 30 days. You are also welcome to use the contact form.
